A Shingle Style classic, built to last

This new home designed by Sullivan Conard Architects is reached via a drive through a bosque of birches that opens to a circular cobblestone auto court.  The 11,380-sq.-ft. home draws on the Shingle Style of the late 19th Century yet is a perfect fit for contemporary family life.  Taking an East meets West approach, the house features the Shingle Style’s signature cedar cladding combined with reclaimed antique stone from China on its many fireplaces and hearths.  Salvaged Chinese stone planks surface the exterior terraces, while hand-shaped stones form the battered landscape walls and exterior details.  In a more informal vein, expansive slide-fold doors open the family room to a terrace above a poolside cabana.
